I have an ASUS notebook computer from 2006. My printer is an HP Officejet pro 8600. My printer and my computer are both connected to a wireless network using a Cisco router. I recently installed Windows 10 and my printer worked fine for a couple of weeks. Now, it won't print. In device manager, I get a message saying 'no drivers are installed for this device.' In the control panel for devices and printers, the printer appears as the default printer, but I get a message saying the printer is 'not connected.'
When I try to print a document from an application (Word), I first get a message saying Microsoft cannot print due to a 'problem with the current printer setup.' And then a message saying 'Word cannot print. There is no printer installed.'
I have gone to HP.com to be sure I have the latest software for this printer installed in my computer and HP says I do. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer several times and this has not resolved the problem. I have unplugged and restarted everything several times and this has not resolved the problem. The printer works fine with two other computers using the same wireless network.
