The USB-AC53 is the first ASUS 2x2 antenna 802.11ac USB adapter. It's optimal for your wireless connections thanks to 5th generation Wi-Fi, the fastest currently available. Review for ASUS USB-AC53 Nano. The 5 Ghz radio does not work with Windows 10 Fall Creators Update so it only functions as a wireless-N adapter, and not a very good one at that. I tried the included driver CD, the default Windows 10 driver, and about 3-4 other vendor drivers as described in the other reviews suggesting ways to get it working.

Try installing the drivers in compatibility mode and check the functionality.

Follow the steps below on how to install driver in compatibility mode:

  1. Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website and save it on your local disk.
  2. Right click on the setup file of the driver and select “Properties”.
  3. Select “Compatibility” Tab.
  4. Place a check mark next to “Run this program in Compatibility mode” and select operating system from the drop down list.
  5. Let the driver install and then check the functionality.

There is no executable,

There is Windows 7, 8 drivers I would think Windows 8 would be most compatible

I have tested the router, and I am connected on the 5ghz on my Blackberry z10 without any issues.

Checking the driver in Device it is updated to the latest driver ,and cannot be rolled back

its an asus issue they haven't released any windows 10 drivers yet, i have the same problem not detecting 5 GHz need company's to start releasing some windows 10 drivers

Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting ASUS. I am sorry you are experiencing difficulties with your device.
Unfortunately Windows 10 is not even supported yet as it is in a pre-release state.
Sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause.
We also have no access to information on when support for Windows 10 will be supported unfortunately.

So it is clear ASUS acknowledges the lack of drivers for Windows 10, we just have to wait and hope they will come out with a new driver, or this could be another Windows Vista type driver issue

I just finished upgrading to Windows 10 and had the same problem, here is a possible solution for anyone else looking.

I fixed it by installing the 'ASUS USB-N53 802.11a/b/g/n Network Adapter' in device manager (Update driver -> Browse my computer.. -> Let me pick.. -> Uncheck 'Show compatible hardware', find ASUSTeK Computer Inc.). There were 3 options, one was MediaTek and the other two were Ralink, I chose the first Ralink option. The driver is version 3.2.1.0 from 4/28/2011.

Asus Ac53

This worked perfectly! I was about to kick my laptop across the room and curse Microsoft but it now works. Hopefully ASUS will release official Windows 10 drivers soon. You rock my friend!!

Well this is holding me back from upgrading to Windows 10, during the readiness it failed on the Networking, the Ethernet is Intel which is fine, but it is failing Asus N53 Dual Band USB wireless network adapter,

If the driver is already installed on your system, updating (overwrite-installing) may fix various issues, add new functions, or just upgrade to the available version. Jan 28, 2015  Try updating the driver and check if it helps: a. Click on 'Start' and type 'Device Manager' in the start search box and press enter. Click on 'Sound, video, and game controllers' to expand the list. Right-click on IDT High definition audio codec and 'Update driver'. The First Driver Listed for me is IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver Now you'll see IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver at the End will be a Download Button it says Download 64bit for me. Click Download If you want you can have HP's Website Download and Install the IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver.

I am fine for now, I will be purchasing another Dell model with higher specs in the near future, and hopefully ASUS will have updated drivers,

But this par for the course, there is many hardware drivers that still need updating to work in Windows 10, remember also that Windows 10 is still in it's infancy, so there still will be bugs and issues,
